On Sunday
morning I woke up to the sound of a ton of people outside and they were all
preparing for a HUGE parade. They shut
down the main road in town for this event.
It evidently (from what I could gather) is a parade for the celebration
of spring. They had all of the local
schools come and had there marching band (consisting only of drums) as well as
their dancers. It was quite the ordeal
with the entire town coming out standing at various places along the road. After the school children got done there was
a series of floats and actors (on the back of tractors, trailers, etc.) that
told the story of Paraguay and how it was formed and changed over the
years. They are very proud of their
history just like we are in the US. Below
you should be able to see pictures of this important town event.
